The Maps of Exandria

As any Critical Role fan knows, the Realms of Exandria are continuously expanding and growing as the characters and players move through their Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) campaigns.

The Continents in the Realms of Exandria

Within the Realms of Exandria are the following continents (on a round world, though if you ask FCG, you may have some argument as to whether the earth is flat):

  • Tal'Dorei (previously known as Gwessar)

  • Issylra

  • Marquet

  • Wildemount

  • Domunas and The Shattered Teeth

It's an incredibly detailed, intricate map. On each continent are various roads, cities, villages, rivers, mountain ranges, forests, etc. And, perhaps most importantly, people.

But of course, these are only the known lands in Exandria. It's quite possible there are more out there just waiting to be explored.

Campaign One: Vox Machina

It all began with their first campaign and their party, called Vox Machina. They have since turned the first campaign into an incredibly well-made, fast-paced and heartrending TV series on Amazon Prime, called "The Legend of Vox Machina". I highly recommend it.

Tal'Dorei

The story mainly takes place on the continent of Tal'Dorei, but they travel around quite a lot. Below is my map interpretation of Tal'Dorei:

Main characters

The main characters the players represent include:

  • Vex'ahlia

  • Vax'ildan

  • Percival (Percy)

  • Keyleth

  • Scanlan

  • Pike

  • Grog

  • and later, Taryon

Main cities

They spend most of the campaign in the cities/regions of:

  • Kraghammer

  • Vasselheim

  • Emon

  • Whitestone

Campaign Two: The Mighty Nein

In their second campaign, we get introduced to the bandy crew of The Mighty Nein and all of their hijinks. They begin their journey in Trostenwald but soon move up the ladder (or rather, under it) into Zadash before carrying on to Hupperdook.

They spend time in Nicodranas with Jester and Fjord's backstories before carrying onto Rosohna, their home base. They fight tensions throughout the campaign between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty and make some tenuous alliances along the way. Other notable places they visit are Rumblecusp and Eiselcross.

Wildemount

The story primarily takes place in Wildemount. I've shared my version of the continent below.

Main characters

The main characters the players represent include:

  • Jester

  • Mollymauk (Molly)

  • Caduceus

  • Yasha

  • Caleb

  • Beauregard

  • Nott/Veth

  • Fjord

Main cities

They spend most of the campaign in the cities/regions of:

  • Zadash

  • Hupperdook

  • Nicodranas

  • Rumblecusp

  • Rosohna

Campaign Three: Bells Hells

The third campaign focuses its efforts on the continent of Marquet with some new and beloved characters. This campaign is still ongoing so I won't give too many spoilers. Let's just say that an impending solstice may cause some issues.

Marquet

Below is my version of the continent of Marquet. Though it's still quite bare and could use some updating as the Bells Hells team continues to explore.

Main characters

The main characters the players represent include:

  • Bertrand

  • Chetney

  • Fresh Cut Grass (FCG)

  • Laudna

  • Fearne

  • Ashton

  • Imogen

Additional characters include:

  • Dorian

  • Dusk

  • F.R.I.D.A.

  • Opal

  • Denise

  • Bor'Dor

  • Prism

  • Fy'ra

  • Morrighan

Main cities

They spend most of the campaign in the cities/regions of:

  • Jrusar

  • Ruidus

The Unmentioned Continents (So Far)

Right, so those are the first three campaigns from Critical Role and how they've explored Exandria. Now, for the places they haven't spent much (or any) time in yet.

Issylra

Much of Issylra is untamed and unexplored wilderness, according to the lore.

Congratulations, you're now at least a semi-expert in the Realms of Exandria. There's still a lot to explore, so make sure you watch Critical Role's campaigns; watch their shows, read their books, and support the creators in as many ways as you can!
